Villa R&R is a home invested with love and care.  You are welcomed into Michael and Martine’s space, where unique decoration awaits you.  The pictures on the walls reference Assisi’s significance for all religions.   Prayers held by Popes in Assisi provide some of the most stunning images of the power of Assisi’s spirituality communicating across ALL religions.  These pictures make for a truly unique visual experience that helps to define your stay at Villa Rest & Retreat.

The home was designed with an eye to comfort, as well as maintaining the special powers of this location.  It is an invitation to retreat into the beauty, green and peace and total privacy. We invite you to share what we have discovered and to make our home your own place of Rest and Retreat.

Welcome to our home. Entering will give you an insight into what makes us tick and hopefully to what can inspire you as well.

We are happy to receive you with a welcome kit, consisting of some food basics. It is a way of saying hello and making you feel welcome.

The living room features brand new, very comfortable furniture. A sitting corner for two features electric reclining chairs for maximal comfort.  Those who wish may watch (Italian) flat screen television here.  Still better, enjoy some of the books on St. Francis of Assisi and world spirituality …. Or go online with our high speed internet wifi connection.

You will find in the book case various books on Assisi, St. Francis, spirituality as well as a special guide to local attractions and points of interest that we have created particularly for you.

Our kitchen/dining area seats four, so if you have come with friends or older children, enjoy your meals in our fully furnished kitchen, including oven, microwave, fridge, toaster, electric kettle, dishwasher and all necessary cooking and serving utensils.

In addition, in the laundry a washing machine and ironing equipment are available for your convenience.  An added advantage is the extra toilet & bidet.

For those who prefer to eat out – we are a short walk from a nearby pizzeria/restaurant.  The café/bar and 2 supermarkets are close by.  And – we’ve struck a deal with a local hotel/restaurant. Take a meal there and enjoy a free swim!

The room is air-conditioned, and its air-flow reaches the living/dining area through double closeable doors.  All windows have netting, so you can listen to the birds and enjoy the fresh air, day or night.

It features a queen bed which can be converted into 2 singles if needed. The room also features a work-desk that faces the verdant olive grove. Any writing project receives special inspiration here. The room further features an additional sitting corner. The versatile and flexible furniture arrangement allows you to adapt to your needs for maximal enjoyment.

This room has an ensuite, including bidet, plus there is plenty of storage & hanging space for your belongings.

Typically, the house is rented on the basis of the first two rooms, i.e. studio/living/kitchen/laundry.

The second bedroom has a separate entry and is entered from an open-air passage. This room features what is arguably the most comfortable sofa-bed ever. You will not believe the degree of comfort attained through a special customized memory mattress. The sofa can be kept open as a double bed, or folded up during the day to create a sofa and sitting space. It offers maximal privacy, and has its own ensuite bathroom, furnished to a high standard. This room is air conditioned for your comfort.  Each room is controlled independently.

If you wish, you may rent this room in addition to the main part of the home, for yourself or for an additional couple of friends or grown up children. (Villa R and R is best suited for families with teenage children, both in terms of ambience and due to the fact that the second bedroom is reached through an outdoor passage).

The huge rooftop terrace has to be experienced. Even pictures cannot convey the expanse, beauty and tranquility of this rooftop terrace. With the help of a large parasol you can enjoy it at any time. Early morning and late night are simply magical, with the changing light, and immersion in green and the sound of birds.

A table and comfortable chairs are provided for guests and visitors.

Read, relax, think, meditate, enjoy the view, take your meals or find your own way of benefiting from this outstanding rooftop terrace, facing a magnificent panorama of the Umbrian valley. There is also a barbeque on the roof for further outdoor pleasure.

The open spaces of R and R are manifold. Sit under the vines, facing Mount Subasio. Sit in the side garden and embrace the Umbrian valley. Take a seat in the midst of the olive grove, enjoying the shade and intimacy of the olive trees. Take the comfortable lounge chairs to a point of your choice in the garden and enjoy the spectacular views or complete privacy.

Actually, you need not go far in order to enjoy the garden. Just step outside the house and you are already in a shaded area, surrounded by green, and facing the olives. An outdoor setting is provided to allow you to take your meals in the cozy intimacy of the olives and the climbing vines that greet you as you step out the door.
